Archie Buchanan – Fred to family and friends – wrote the poems in this collection over a period of nearly sixty years. The earliest, Remembrance Day, he first drafted aged 19; the most recent, The One and Only, he composed in late summer of 2005 when he knew that he hadn’t long to live. It was read by one of his grandchildren at his funeral. This surprisingly varied collection of 21 pieces was originally selected by Fred himself as a fair representation of his range. The moods range from sombre to absurd, through themes of love and loyalty, religion, mystery, nature and the seasons. There should be something for everyone among the pages.
